Fairies have said to be various things from child snatchers to “wee” folk, we dont know which is any of the tales are true, but one thing is certain they do capture our hearts and imagination with their delicate wings, beautiful or mysterious clothes in the most amazing colours from forest greens, to golds to delicate lilacs and pinks.
What are Fairies?

Fairy Types
Flower Fairies
Of course anyone can have flower fairies, but the most famous of all flower fairies were a particular favourite of mine as a child, and that is the ones created in the books by Cicely Mary Barker
Tinkerbell
Probably the most famous individual fairy of them all. The naughty fairy in the Peter Pan stories.

Tooth Fairies
Every child’s dream fairy the fairy who gives extra pocket money for lost teeth! At night as you go to bed you take that protected tooth that you lost during the day all wrapped up in tissue and ceremoniously pop it under your pillow and hope that the next day there is a coin in its place. The excitement as you gently pull back the pillow the next morning that feeling in the pit of your stomach.
Fantasy Fairies
These come from the fantasy world and can break from tradition of the history of fairies and be anything you like.
Cottingley fairies
Most people will have seen at least one of the five pictures of the Cottingley Fairies. Photos of fairies and claimed to be real by two girls, later said to be cardboard cut outs from a children’s book. One of the women in later life always claimed that the last of the five pictures was real!

Fairy Natures
Fairies have been described in many ways. They come as delicate magical beings. Creatures that are at one with and protect nature. Pictures of fairies are shown as mischievous but not harmful or as mischievous but harmful. As pure evil alien entities (as in Dr Who) and as child snatchers or as children themselves who have been snatched and become fairies.
